The Team at Water Works
When local businessman Michael Karloutsos set out on his first endeavor as a restaurateur, he turned to his family to help him create his dream establishment. Today, The Water Works Restaurant and Lounge, a distinctive family-owned business, has become Philadelphia’s landmark dining destination.
Karloutsos’ partners, his wife Anastasia and sister-in-law, Sophia Stogiannis, each serve as executives for the company. Together they brought together a team of talented and passionate professionals, which has propelled The Water Works to its rank as a top dining destination in the city.
John Gates - General Manager
John Gates reminds one of the Little Engine That Could with an unbridled passion for the service industry. A seasoned veteran of the restaurant industry, Gates served in every front of the house position at Le Bec Fin over his twenty year tenure there. “John is a quiet force of nature. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor allow him to handle any guest issue with grace and dignity. John is the poster child for hospitality. He is an incredible asset to the Water Works team and we are lucky to have him” states Michael Karloutsos, Managing Partner of the Water Works Restaurant and Lounge.
During his tenure at The Water Works Restaurant and Lounge it is clear that no job is too small or too big for John. You will find him delivering food to a table, clearing plates, seating guests and of course checking to make sure every guests experience is perfect. His is competitiveness and desire to be number one make John an integral part of the Water Works Restaurant and Lounge team.
